Can creativity be measured, managed, and thus grow business?

20.12.2024

Creativity enhances our ability to renew, innovate, solve challenges, and invent new ways of working. It is one of the most important skills and resources in today’s work life: in a complex and rapidly changing world, it is essential for the development, renewal, and success of organizations.
At Raisio, we want to develop creative thinking and way of working, as well as a culture that supports it. Therefore, we are taking part in Aalto University’s Creative Leap research project.

Creative Leap – Creativity as a Competitive Advantage in Business

In a rapidly changing world, creativity is essential for the development, renewal, and success of organizations to create desirable futures and lead change. In the two-year (2024-2025) Creative Leap project, researchers from Aalto University’s School of Business and School of Arts, Design and Architecture are exploring ways to measure and manage creativity and assess its business impacts.
The project examines creativity as a competitive advantage and investigates whether creative methods and approaches are linked to financial success. The goal is to create a framework that supports the impact of creativity on individuals and organizations in Finland and models the economic impact of creativity.

‘Creative Leap: Creativity as a competitive advantage in business’ is a research project funded by Business Finland and Next Generation EU. The companies and organizations participating in the Creative Leap project represent various industries. In addition to Raisio, participants include Fiskars Group, Kemira, Marimekko, Posti, and Sitra.

Expected outcomes of the project:

• The latest international creativity research to support organizational development work.
• Analysis of the current state of creativity at individual and team/organizational levels.
• Methods and tools to strengthen the organization’s renewal and innovation capabilities and improve competitive advantage in business.
• A knowledge-based action plan to develop creativity throughout the organization.
• A framework that supports creativity at individual and organizational levels and measures the business value of creativity.

In 2024, the research has focused on creativity surveys and fieldwork in the form of qualitative observations and interviews at Raisio among other partner companies. Looking forward to year 2025: we are excited to receive the first results from the organizational creativity surveys in March.
